Ranch Turkey Burgers - Recipe by Annie!

I know it has been almost a month since I posted.  It's because I got my MCAT scores back, they were less than satisfactory, and I had to start studying again.  Not cool.  Thus I stopped seriously cooking, or at least taking pictures and blogging about it.  I won't be done with this round of the test until the end of April so I will be continuing not to blog that much, but today I cooked and I wanted to blog about it!

Tonight for dinner I made ranch turkey burgers, the recipe I got from my friend Annie from work.  I have never made anything with ground turkey before, in fact I rarely ever cook with raw meat.  But it went well!  And then after I was done eating a scrubbed my bowls and cutting board like crazy just to be safe!

Ingredients:
1. 25 lbs. lean ground turkey, the leaner the better
Packet of Ranch seasoning
Onion (recipe says 3/4 I used 1/2)
2 cloves of garlic (more or less depending on taste)
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup breadcrumbs (I used slightly less)

First I cut up the onion and garlic.  After putting the patties together and cooking one up I realized I didn't dice everything finely enough.  Something to change for next time.

After that I added all of the rest of the ingredients.

Then I mixed everything up, first with a big spoon, then with my hands.
Looking good, although the onion pieces were a little big for me, like I said.

Next I formed them into patties.  It is pretty much up to you how big you want to make them.  I made 8 patties which makes each patty a little less than 1/6 lbs.  Really a perfect size for me since I don't need much to fill me up and made for lots of leftovers!

I took 5 of them and wrapped them in foil and put them in a ziplock bag in the freezer.  2 of them went in the fridge.  The last I cooked for dinner!  I put less than a tablespoon of oil (I used vegetable oil, you could also use olive oil) in a pan, let it warm up for a minute, and then put the patty on.

Cooked a couple of minutes on each side, until it was no longer red or pink, and done!  I also toasted up a whole wheat potato hamburger roll, and topped the burger with a slice of havarti cheese, a slice of tomato, and a piece of lettuce.

So delicious!  I really enjoyed this.  My first ever turkey burger period, much less one I made myself.  I am so glad I have so many of these left over, I will be eating these all week long!

So like I said, the posting will be at a minimum in the next month and a half, but I will try to post a little something every two weeks or so when I need a break from studying!

Thanks for reading.
